Featuring the work of: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/philipbrou.com\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\">Philip Brou<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/jamiechan.nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jamie Chan<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jariddeldeo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jarid del Deo<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/danforth.framingham.edu\/exhibition\/dan-dowd-found-and-gifted\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dan Dowd<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/space538.org\/artist\/john-fireman\/\" target=\"_blank\">John Fireman<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.callmeamerican.com\/about-abdi\" target=\"_blank\">Abdi Nor Iftin<\/a>, and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/randyregier.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Randy Regier<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inspired by the legacy and culture of SAAB, Dowd has assembled a group of artists whose work presents and expanded view of how we see and relate to cars in our lives. \u201cCars have always been more than just transportation to me. \u00a0As a child I would ride in the backseat of our station wagon with my brother and sister and we would try to identify every car that we passed\u2026I have always appreciated SAAB for their unique style, safety, fuel efficiency, durability and utility. \u00a0I worked at a SAAB Alfa Romeo Ferrari dealership as an undergraduate as a way to pay for my education but also to be around cars that I loved. \u00a0I&#8217;ve been driving SAAB vehicles solely since 1991. \u00a0I am intrigued by and fascinated with the loyalty SAAB drivers have and the community these cars create\u201d, says Dowd. \u00a0With SAAB as a starting point, the exhibit expands upon this fascination with cars, including work that plumbs the imagery of the vehicle and related infrastructure in sculpture, film, assemblage, drawing, and painting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Death Drive\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/801069367?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/library.une.edu\/art-galleries\/home\/biddeford-campus\/visit\/\">Gallery Hours &amp; Directions<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/library.une.edu\/art-galleries\/home\/contact\/gallery-director\/\">For more information contact Gallery Director Hilary Irons. <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>January 13-April 21, 2023 This exhibit has been co-curated with multi-media assemblage artist Dan Dowd to explore the automobile as a source of creative energy for artists, as well as its historical and ongoing role in society and in the environment.
