She received her B.A. from Northwestern University and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Cornell. She is the author of several mystery novels, including <em>Garden of Malice<\/em>, <em>Graves in Academe<\/em> and <em>One Fell Sloop<\/em>, as well as numerous short stories and essays.
