It also includes one copy of a 2008 <em>Bird Watcher&#8217;s Digest<\/em> with an article by Preis, and another 1987 copy of <em>Bird Watcher&#8217;s Digest<\/em> with an aricle by Dorothy Sanborn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Biographical\/Historical Note<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Jean Preis read Dorothy Sanborn&#8217;s &#8220;Bird Seed&#8221; column in the Bridgton News for a year before Preis moved to Maine. Preis ended up moving just down the road from Dorothy and her husband Andy, and they struck up a friendship. When Sanborn retired from writing her column, Preis wrote a letter to the editor lamenting the absence of the &#8220;Bird Seed&#8221; column, and the <em>Bridgton News<\/em> suggested Preis take over the column. She has written more than 500 &#8220;Bird Watch&#8221; columns for the <em>Bridgton News<\/em>.
