Library Technology

Computer Equipment

Both libraries have PC and Macintosh desktop computers available. You will need a valid UNE login and password for use. Visitors may request guest access by appointment, or at the front desk during business hours.

Please note that when you log off these computers, all downloaded files, personal settings, browser cache, and cookies are deleted. Do not save your work to these computers; use cloud storage such as OneDrive or Google Docs, or use a USB drive.


All computers are equipped with basic software including Microsoft Office Suite as well as software to support specific programs.

  • Chemistry: ACDLabs ChemSketch, Gaussview, LoggerPro
  • GIS: ArcGIS, ERDas Imagine
  • Images & Graphic Design: GIMP2, Inkscape, TexStudio
  • Math and Statistics: SPSS, R, GeoGebra, Maple 15, Matlab R2016a, Minitab, SYSTAT

High-capacity black & white printers are available on each campus library main floor. Students receive a 500 sheet print credit at the beginning of each semester and can add funds to cover additional printing needs. Learn more about printing on campus.

Color Printing & Copy Services

Color printing and copy services like binding, high volume, or poster size printing are available through UNE’s Mail and Copy Centers.

Copy, Scan & Fax

Biddeford Campus

The Biddeford Campus Library has a copy, scan & fax machine.

Scanned documents can be sent to email or uploaded to a USB drive.

Faxes can only be sent out. Campus security can accept incoming faxes.

Portland Campus

The Portland Campus Library has a copy & scan machine. Ask at the front desk for the access code needed to use this machine.

Scanned documents can be sent to email or uploaded to a USB drive.

There is a separate fax machine in the 24-Hour Study Lounge, for outgoing faxes only.

Virtual Reality

Both libraries have virtual reality (VR) equipment available with software modules from Embodied Labs. If you are interested in learning more about our VR program, please contact:

Telepresence Robots

Each campus library has a Double Robotics telepresence robot available. Robots can be reserved by contacting the Access Services Librarian on your campus.
