Areas of focus include arts and humanities, environmental studies, marine science, and the history of the region and its inhabitants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We seek materials that reflect diverse, underrepresented and unheard voices; and reflect the cultures and social identities of the university\u2019s community<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maine history, including Wabanaki history and Franco-American culture, to support teaching and experiential learning in history.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>War-time letters and ephemera to add to the <a href=\"https:\/\/library.une.edu\/special-collections\/collections\/collections-a-z\/randall-j-cushing-collection-of-world-war-i-and-world-war-ii-letters-1914-1963\/\" data-type=\"collection\" data-id=\"699\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">World War I and II letters collected by Randall J. Cushing<\/a>, used extensively in history courses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food and nutrition, including historical cookbooks and recipes, to support to history and nutrition courses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health narratives, health humanities, and patient narratives in various forms such as artists\u2019 books,&nbsp;literature, and zines, form a core area of focus for a broad number of courses taught at UNE.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Environmental history, climate&nbsp;change narratives, and other materials documenting Maine\u2019s&nbsp;environment and the broader field of environmental studies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Artists\u2019 books, small press publications, and zines support teaching in the humanities and arts, and&nbsp;offer a medium for diversifying the collection and representing a broader number of voices and perspectives than do traditional published works.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are interested in donating materials to the collection, please contact <a href=\"https:\/\/www.une.edu\/people\/cathleen-miller\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Education and Outreach Archivist Cathleen Miller.<\/a> <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Active Collecting Areas We collect books, manuscripts, archives, artists\u2019 books, zines, audio\/visual materials,&nbsp;ephemera, and digital objects that support the&nbsp;teaching and research areas of UNE\u2019s undergraduate&nbsp;curriculum.
