Biographical/Historical Note

Gene Yonuschot, Ph.D. arrived at the University of New England in 1978 as Associate Dean for Basic Science at the UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Yonuschot served in the U.S. Army as an airborne demolition expert from 1955 -1958, then received his B.S. from California Polytechnic College in 1963 and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Missouri in 1969. Prior to coming to UNECOM Dr. Yonuschot served as chairman and associate professor of Biochemistry at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Arriving the year UNECOM held its first classes, Dr. Yonuschot was instrumental in guiding the college through its early years. He served as a professor of Biochemistry for over 30 years and continues as Professor Emeritus.
