Library Building Accessibility
Biddeford Campus
Library Building
Ketchum Library details including maps, directions, and available study spaces.
Entrances
Power-assisted doors are located at the library and Bush Center main front entrances.
Parking
Disability parking is available in the small parking lot outside the Windward Café behind the Bush Center. Contact UNE’s Security Office for a permit to park in these spaces.
Restrooms
Accessible restrooms are available on all three library levels. All-gender restrooms are available on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
Elevator
An elevator is located to the left of the main entrance and provides access to all floors of the library.
Study Rooms
Study rooms 4-8 are wheelchair accessible.
Silent Study Spaces
Silent study space is located on the 3rd floor.
Sensory
Lighting throughout the building is natural spectrum LED. Study carrels on the 3rd floor have optional lights.
You can borrow white noise machines, ear muffs, a light therapy lamp, and a weighted blanket at the front desk.
Portland Campus
Library Building
Abplanalp 45′ Library details including maps, directions, and available study spaces.
Entrances
There is a ramp and power-assisted doors at the library main entrance, located in the side courtyard opposite Alumni Hall. Approach the building from the main circle.
Parking
Disability parking is available in the parking lot behind the library.
Restrooms
Accessible restrooms are available on the 1st floor and lower level. The 1st floor restroom is all-gender.
Elevator
An elevator is located to the left of the main entrance and provides access to all library levels.
Study Rooms
Rooms 4, 5, and 6 are wheelchair accessible.
Silent Study Spaces
Silent study space is located on the library lower level and the 2nd floor book stacks.
Sensory
Lighting throughout most of the building is natural spectrum LED. The library lower level is dimly lit and each study table is equipped with a table lamp. Study carrels have optional lights.
You can borrow white noise machines at the front desk.
Service Animals
Services animals are welcome in our library buildings. Read UNE’s policy on service and assistance animals [PDF].
Physical Library Items
We can help you retrieve library books and other materials from shelves. Ask at the front desk or search library resources and use the “hold for me” button; we’ll email you when your books are ready to be picked up at the library front desk. Braille, large-print, or CD audiobooks can be requested through Interlibrary Loan. Download audiobooks from cloudLibrary using your UNE PRN as your library card number.
Online Resources
We offer access to many subscription and licensed resources, including databases, e-books, scholarly journals, and more. Each service has their own standards for accessibility.
