Reviewing Grief in the Archives

Join us on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 for a writing workshop led by 2025 MWWC Creative Fellow Maya Williams. Participants will review the work of Sarah Orne Jewett, Donna M. Loring, Annie Finch, and Emily Taylor Perkins and then spend some time writing poetry about grief.
Free and open to the public.

Maya Williams (ey/they/she) is a religious Black multiracial nonbinary suicide survivor who served as Portland, Maine’s seventh poet laureate for a July 2021 to July 2024 term. Maya is currently working on a book of essays on pilgrimages to death sites related to suicide. You can follow more of Maya’s work at mayawilliamspoet.com.
