Collection Scope and Content
The Institute for Franco-Amercian Culture collection is made up of 8 series including Files, Franco-Amercian Organizations and Events, Albums and Scrapbooks, Publications, Sheet Music, Slide Presentations, Audio Interviews, and Lecture Recordings.
The Files series includes administrative files, correspondence, reports, grant applications, meeting agendas, bibliographies of publications held by the institute. The files are arranged by academic year, 1971 – 1972, 1972 – 1973, 1973 – 1974 and 1975. The Franco-American Organizations and Events series includes records from Franco-American organizations outside the Institute from 1947 – 1975 including meeting notes and programs.The Albums and Scrapbooks series is made up of 1 photo album dated 1972 – 1973 and includes photos of Institute events and 1 scrapbook from the St. Francis College French Club. The Publications series includes a selection of 20 volumes collected by the Institute pertaining to the history and culture of Franco-Americans including 19 volumes of the “Almanach du Peuple” 1910 – 1958. Also included are 3 sets of audio cassettes of Franco_American arts, literature and music. The Sheet music series is made up of 1 folder of music. The Slide Presentations series is made up of 5 presentations conducted by the Institute from 1971-1974 and includes 1221 slides and 2 presentation
scripts.The Audio Interviews series includes 13 audio cassettes of interviews from 1974 of various members of the Franco-American community in Biddeford and Lewiston. Lecture Recordings includes 14 audio cassette recordings of lectures conducted by the Institute both undated and from 1974.
