Born Abba Louisa Goold in Windham, Maine in 1838, she married Moses Woolson in 1856. She taught literature and wrote essays for The Home Journal, Portland Transcript and Boston Journal. She was active in the movement toward ready-made clothing for women, as opposed to custom-made clothing, which took much time and effort, publishing Dress-Reform in 1874. She wrote several other books, including George Eliot and Her Heroines.
