The Maine Women Writers Collection maintains an active acquisitions program in contemporary and historic manuscript material and rare books. We welcome offers of papers and books as well as monetary donations.
Donating Personal or Organizational Materials
We collect personal papers, family papers, and organizational records. Our collections document private and professional life, public and civic engagement, and memorabilia that individuals create and collect. Some examples include:
- scrapbooks/photo albums
- genealogical information
- literary manuscripts
- research materials
- financial and legal documents
- films/videos/audio tapes
Read our full collecting policy or contact the curator for more information about donating personal or family papers.
Donating or Bequeathing Funds
The Collection’s basic operations are funded through the Healy Endowment, established by philanthropist John Payson in 1991 in memory of co-founder Dorothy M. Healy. Special funding and new endowments enable the Collection to adjust our operations to meet future needs. Your support allows us to enrich our holdings; to expand our support of scholarship, teaching, and creative work; and to reach wider audiences.
Monetary donations or bequests for the benefit of the MWWC may be made through the UNE Office of Institutional Advancement. Contact the Curator to discuss this possibility confidentially and without any obligation.
