Biographical/Historical Note

Florence Demers was a painter and writer and lived in Waterville, Maine. She graduated from Westbrook Junior College, Colby College, and the Leland Powers School of Radio and Theater in Boston. Her poetry and essays appeared in numerous publications and she often wrote letters to the editor. Demers was a strong opponent of capital punishment and frequently wrote articles and spoke on television and radio expressing those views.
