Biographical/Historical Note
A Maine native, Frances Emery-Waterhouse spent years in Guatemala where her husband grew bananas. She learned Spanish and wrote for local newspapers and magazines. She published Banana Paradise in 1947 and composed numerous songs about Central America. Upon her return to Maine, she continued to write articles for local newspapers and compose songs. She died in 1966.
