The collection consists of Hawkins’s official U.S. Navy discharge papers and ephemera, Navy literature, a few documents related to Hawkins’s speciality while serving, and a photograph (scanned reproduction) of her in uniform.

Ruth Hawkins was a Maine native who enlisted in the WAVES in 1945 and was discharged in 1946.
