Collection Scope and Content

This collection consists of a program for Finch’s 2011 production of her play “Wolf Song” through the Poets Theater of Maine.

Biographical/Historical Note

Annie Finch was born in 1956 in New Rochelle, New York. She graduated from Oakwood Friends’ School, a Quaker boarding school in Poughkeepsie, New York in 1973. She received her B.A. in English Literature from Yale in 1979, an M.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Houston and a Ph.D. in English and American Literature from Stanford. Finch is a poet, author, translator, editor, and playwright and has published many books of poetry, including Calendars, The Encyclopedia of Scotland, Among the Goddesses, and Eve.

She is a senior fellow at the Black Earth Institute and artist-in-residence at Cherry Hill Seminary, a leading pagan divinity school. She served as the director of the Stonecoast M.F.A. program at the University of Southern Maine until 2013 and lives with her husband and two children in Falmouth, Maine.
