Collection Scope and Content

This collection includes handwritten manuscripts for two prose stories, “Country Life” and “The Blue Dress.” The first page of “Country Life” is signed Sarah Hamilton.

Biographical/Historical Note

Edith Dalton was born in Portland, Maine on January 18, 1864. She was the daughter of Asa Dalton, clergyman at Stephens Episcopal Church. There are copies of three books of her poetry in the collection. She sometimes used the pseudonym Sarah Hamilton.
