Biographical/Historical Note

Mary Ginn Worthley was a teacher and humanitarian. She was instrumental in getting Maine retired teachers’ pensions raised and served on numerous boards and committees to better conditions in Maine. Worthley had a successful bill before every session of legislature from 1947 to 1972, benefitting a number of people – retired teachers, mentally ill, schoolchildren and others.
