Biographical/Historical Note

Olive Thorne Miller was born Harriet Mann in 1831. She was a naturalist, ornithologist and writer. She wrote children’s stories under the pseudonym Olive Thorne, nature sketches for children under her married name, Harriet Mann Miller, and nature sketches for adults under the name Olive Thorne Miller. She died in 1918.
