Biographical/Historical Note

Ruth Sexton Sargent, born in 1920, lived on Peaks Island, off the coast of Maine. She was a photojournalist for Portland newspapers and wrote numerous books for children and adults, including Abbie Burgess: Lighthouse Heroine and Always Nine Years Old: Sarah Orne Jewett’s Childhood.
