St. Francis alum James L. Pierce recently detailed his experience of the college’s 1964 Symposium on Human Rights. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Bayard Rustin, and other civil rights leaders were invited to speak on campus for a 2 day event entitled “I Have a Dream: The Negro and the American Quest for Identity.” Read Pierce’s article, Lunch with MLK, in The Free Press Online. The included photographs were obtained from the St. Francis History Collection, and are featured in the exhibit currently on display in Leonard Hall.
