Digital items will be sent as PDFs. Books and other physical items will be sent to your UNE campus library for you to pick up.
UNE Interlibrary Loan Policies
Cost
UNE Interlibrary Loan is free – however you could receive fines for overdue, unreturned, or damaged materials.
Articles
Articles and other documents will be sent as PDF files to your UNE Interlibrary Loan account within 1-5 business days. You will receive an email when they become available. Files remain active in your account for 30 days and may be downloaded or printed.
You can request up to 5 articles from one journal title that has been published within the last 5 years.
Book Chapters
Single book chapters of less than 50 pages will be delivered as PDFs to your account usually within 1-2 business days, but please allow up to 5. You will receive an email when your chapter become available. Files remain active in your account for 30 days but may be downloaded or printed. If you need more than 50 pages or 1 chapter, you will need to request the book.
Books & Media
Books, and media such as DVDs, CDs or microfilm will be mailed to the UNE campus you specify, usually within 5-10 business days. You will receive an email when your requests are ready to be picked up at the library front desk.
Loan Times
Books and other physical items can be borrowed for six weeks. You can request a renewal, but it is up to the lending library to decide if they will extend your loan.
Can’t Request
We are not able to provide streaming video, video files, or entire e-books through interlibrary loan. Otherwise, it is up to the lending library to decide what they will lend. In general, rare, antique, fragile, or oversize books as well as multi-volume sets may not be available. Books borrowed from another library can’t be sent off-campus. MaineCat Policies
Cost
MaineCat is free; however, you could receive fines for overdue, un-returned, or damaged materials.
Delivery
MaineCat requests will be delivered to the campus library you select, usually within 4-7 business days. You will receive an email when your items are ready to be picked up at the library front desk. You may return MaineCat items to either UNE library.
Loan Times
You can borrow MaineCat items for 4 weeks, and can renew for two additional weeks if needed. To renew:
