Captain Joanne P. Murphy was Donna Loring’s Commanding Officer while they served together in the combat zone at Long Binh during the Vietnam War, and Murphy’s bequest has been foundational to the Donna M. Loring Lecture endowment. It is therefore fitting that this year’s event, which marks the occasion of the Loring Lecture’s 15th anniversary, will be a salute to Cpt. Murphy and to all of the women Vietnam veterans, delivered by the Honorable Donna M. Loring.
