Studiolab is an ongoing series of remote studio visits hosted by the UNE Art Gallery. We highlight the studio practices of artists in our community, whose interdisciplinary work intersects with the sciences and other field.
Our new video features Maine-based artist, poet, and activist Kifah Abdulla. Kifah’s practice spans several media, and uses Arabic calligraphy and the history of Modern painting as inspiration. His roots in Iraq inform his creative approach to social engagement and community outreach, and his poetry is widely acclaimed in Maine and beyond. Kifah maintains a studio at Engine in Biddeford, and his work will be featured at the UNE Art Gallery (forthcoming). See more of his work at kifahabdulla.com.
